Could 162 words change your life every day, forever?
The Mighty Blogs are not just here to keep you informed and in the know about what Mighty Men are up to by posting great videos and promotional messages, we want to challenge, encourage and provide a few informative posts too!
So….I’ve felt that my prayer time has been off, not right, or I could say even dull these last few months! I friend recently sent me a book by Mathew Kelly, a New York Times bestselling author, titled “I Heard God Laugh”. You can imagine what I thought the book was written about! I was surprised that it is about of all things prayer. Kelly raises some powerful questions to set the tone for the book: Is your life working? Are you taking care of your soul? Some pretty deep questions for some light reading, at least for me it was! Spoiler alert guys….the missing piece to the life puzzle is a vibrant spirituality.
Mathew Kelly’s direct answer is “there are an unlimited number of ways to feed your soul. The best place to start is with daily prayer”. In the book he teaches a life-changing method of prayer. Please note, that I get it, men! There are many ways to pray, none better than the next. I agree with that and encourage each of you reading this post to be consistent in your prayer time daily, whatever your prayer process may be.
The prayer process teaches us to pray at deeper and deeper levels just by practicing it.
THE PRAYER PROCESS (taken from the book “I Heard God Laugh”):
1. Gratitude: Begin by thanking God in a personal dialogue for whatever you are most grateful for today.
2. Awareness: Revisit the times in the past 24 hours when you were and were not the best version of yourself. Talk to God about these situations and what you learned from them.
3. Significant Moments: Identify something you experienced today and explore what God might be trying to say to you through that event (or person).
4. Peace: Ask God to forgive you for any wrong you have committed (against yourself, another person, or him) and to fill you with a deep and abiding peace.
5. Freedom: Speak with God about how he is inviting you to change your life, so that you can experience the freedom to be the best version of yourself.
6. Others: Lift up to God anyone you feel called to pray for by asking God to bless and guide them.
7. Finish: Pray the Our Father/Lord’s Prayer.
There are 162 words in the Prayer Process. “Could 162 words change your life every day, forever?”
The world is in a very different and peculiar place these days! We didn’t ask for all this. My question, men, are what is it that we are learning from all this? What have you learned about the value of outreach to others and consistently focused prayer? Maybe 162 words can help you make a difference and strengthen your prayer rhythms. You never know until you try!
Remember, God never wastes anything. Keep moving forward to becoming the best version of yourself!
