My “Grey Wolf Camp” Experience
So camping isn't really my thing, but I hate to turn down an invitation or opportunity to experience something new! One thing I know for sure. God shows up in the most unlikely places. Once you realize that, you don't want to miss out!
Driving into the campsite I was met by a lush green lawn, sparkling pond with a forest like wooded backdrop. If I had known heaven looked like this, I would've signed up long ago! The guys were pitching their tents. (I had practiced this feat earlier in the day so I wouldn't look too much like a novice.) Everyone was saying hello and getting adjusted. Nothing spells relief quite like settling down at the end of a long day in your favorite lawn chair sipping on your drink of choice!
Dusk slowly settles in too, as we maneuver our way around the campfire. After a few jokes and lighthearted conversations the question arouse. Why are you here? While I'm not quick to speak, several men chime in.
Why am I here?
First of all I'm so glad there is a group of men my age I can just be around! I enjoy the camaraderie. I welcome the opportunity to help out and learn something new. Though I'm not much at carpentry I'm great at giving moral support! By the way. Our service project was successful. The barn doors, roof and wagon should be good for at least another 50 yrs or so!
I'm here because it's an honor to be surrounded by such accomplished men who love Jesus. Who together bring about a wealth of resources and knowledge. Who wouldn't want to spend a weekend with such men who are always in pursuit of what God has in store for them? I'm here because I support “Mighty Men” and the mission. I have met great guys. Made new friends. Participated in engaging service projects. Grown spiritually. And at “Grey Wolf Camp”, got a small glimpse of heaven.
