REACHING OUT
Gents, some of you had the experience this past weekend to live outside your norms and be with a group of brothers reaching out for more, and some were not able to make the journey.
I had the opportunity to get to know about 16 guys a little better than I did prior. So glad I took the challenge. So happy they did too!
We cleared some vegetation, pruned some trees and brushes, cut down a few trees and built some solid camaraderie within each other.
We broke into our hearts, told some stories and yes, cried a few tears.
We are all broken and it showed, but we are working towards better days, better accomplishments and better feelings. We are looking for our “Purpose and Passion”.
Some of us might have found a little. I know for me it has stimulated my thought process. I’m pretty sure it did to others to.
Coming out of this imposed quarantine of COVID it felt good to be able to sit around a fire, drink a beer or maybe some brown sauce and listen to others about what they’re going through or have gone through. Awesome memories.
Some of our passion is in serving others. We cut up a lot of wood and delivered it to a very poor neighbor who was so appreciative that she had her heat taken care of for the upcoming winter. Something I personally have taken for granted that it will be there when I need it. Not her. She was wondering where it was coming from since her husband died almost 2 months ago. What a very beautiful definition of purpose. So glad we could help.
I long to see more men experience these things and to see how we can change the world of one family, one person at a time when we step out of the boat, but you have to be brave enough for that first step.
It could be delivering beds to those who have never experienced sleeping on their very own bed (mark your calendar now, 4th Saturday every month), maybe delivering food during Thanksgiving or Christmas to those who would probably go without it if we didn’t get it to them. Maybe it might be marking September 10-12, 2021 on your calendar now for our fall Grey Wolf in New Richmond, OH. We will be doing projects for Empowering Youth. Check out their web site.
Not a camper no problem, come out on Saturday September 11th and just help with the projects and then sit down and break some bread with us. Guaranteed to make your day better.
Sometimes when you go out to help someone else, it’s you that gets the most out of it.
I am reaching hard for your hand…..are you reaching for mine?
